Over 31,000 people enjoyed the action-packed tale of Robinson Crusoe, this year’s pantomime at the Gala Theatre.

Families flocked to 72 performances of the show, which received rave reviews across the north east, and organisers are now looking forward to next year’s production with tickets already on sale for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The show was once again written and directed by Neil Armstrong and Paul Hartley, who also starred in the show as baddie Captain Blackheart and Billy Bob. They were joined by Jamie Brown as Robinson, along with Paul Dunn as Dame Connie Crusoe, Lauren Waine as Polly Perkins and Jayne Mackenzie as goddess of the sea Aqua Marina.

Robin Byers, Durham County Council’s manager for the Gala Theatre, said: “We are always really thrilled when so many people enjoy our pantomime. We put a lot of work into creating it, so we are delighted to hear such positive feedback from our audiences.

“We are already looking forward to our next pantomime, with Neil and Paul set to return with the ever-popular Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”

Anyone booking for the 2018 pantomime before Wednesday, 31 January can save up to £5 on selected performances with an early bird offer.
