Students at Woodham Academy got in to the Christmas spirit last week by donating hampers to local elderly residents and families in need. Each tutor group took part in a hamper competition bringing in food and gifts from home to create their own hampers.

The hampers were all decorated beautifully and full of a variety of cupboard essentials including tins of soup, pasta, tea, coffee, tuna and chocolates, with some even adding teddies, toys,  DVD’s and games for families. The long-standing Woodham tradition of donating hampers and hand delivering them to those in the community is always well received by residents. This year students created over 40 hampers. Many were delivered by the students who went out with staff to visit addresses around the town. The remaining hampers were taken to the Foodbank at St Clare’s Church.

Tutor groups with the best decorated hampers received prizes at the end of term.
