On Thursday 19th October St. Mary’s took part in their annual singing concert at our local secondary school, Woodham Academy. This year there was an animal theme and each class sang 2 songs.

The songs ranged from nursery rhymes, to pop songs like Roar! to folk songs like The Drovers Dream from Australia. We even had a song sung in French! Our concert, which also aimed to help the charity ‘Sing for Songbirds’ run by Chester Zoo who support endangered songbirds in Great Britain and in the rainforests of the Amazon and Indonesia, was well attended by parents – some had to stand as we ran out of seats. A great big thank you to Woodham for allowing us to hold our concert in their school hall, and with lights and sound, and refreshments for parents too. On Friday 20th October, the children were invited to come to school dressed as an animal, for a small donation, to support the charity ‘Wear It Wild’. They took part in animal themed lessons in maths, literacy and art throughout the day.

The total raised over the two events was £171 which will be split between the two charities. Well to everyone, staff children and parents who supported these events
