This race report will cover two weekends due to holidays. Firstly in the weekend commencing 28th April 2018 Julie Nisbet travelled to Scotland for the Stirling Marathon. She completed this in 4.16.36 which was a massive personal best for Julie.

Also on April 29th Paul Dalton (although competing under his first club name) completed the Fountains 10k in a time of 39.55 . He was placed 9th overall but was 2nd place Vet male.

There were also a number of PB’s recorded at local parkruns so well done all who recorded Pb’s that weekend. Unfortunately these results are no longer available to be able to record them individually.

During the following week two members travelled to Gribdale near Great Ayton to participate in the Gribdale Growler (fell race). Rob Nicholson completed this in 59.21 and Louise Wright in 62.02 which was a PB of 4 minutes compared to her time last year!.

The weekend of 5th May 2018 again began with parkruns and the following all gained PB’s: –

At Sedgefield Parkrun : Richard Holland in 20.31, Rob Young 20.57, Gemma Holland 27.31 and Jan McLuckie in 35.53.

At Durham Parkrun, John Surtees secured a course PB of 17.32 and over at Chester le Street Lisa Dowell obtained a course PB of 37.36.

On 6th May Paul Dalton rang in the Kirkbymoorside 10k and finished 15th in a time of 40.18.

Also on 6th May Trish Kay travelled to the Lake District to compete in the Keswick Half Marathon which she describes is her favourite race. The route starts in Portinscale and follows a hilly course through the Newlands Valley along the foot of Catbells and back towards Kewick. The course is very challenging with some steep ascents and descents alike but the scenery is beautiful and a welcome distraction. Trish did state that it was extremely hot and very sunny and as such she stopped at every water station to ensure that she kept hydrated which meant that she finished in 2.04 which was one of her slowest times for a half marathon but she adds that she thoroughly enjoyed it!.

Finally on the Bank Holiday Monday 7 members took part in the Tees Barrage 10k race. This takes place on the first Bank Holiday Monday in May every year. The route runs along the Tees taking in two of the bridges along the Tees which certainly add a challenge to the route. Again the weather was extremely hot and this was commented on by all who ran. Results for this race were as follows: – Richard Holland – 44.34, Christine Mudd – 45.13, Rob Young – 45.59, Dave Blewitt- 46.35, Angela Sutheran – 51.30, Ian Baronowski 55.19 and Bev Phillippo 1:02.51.

Well done all on another two great weeks of racing.
