It’s all systems go for the 8th Annual Model Railway Exhibition being organized by the Rotary Club of Newton Aycliffe at the Youth Centre, Burn Lane, Newton Aycliffe DL5 4HT  (opp. Tesco) on Saturday 11th March from 10am to 5pm. Entry costs £4 for adults, £3 for concessions and 50p for children. There are family tickets available at £8. This year’s event will be the largest so far with 19 layouts booked for the event ranging from “n” to “G” scales representing locations from the UK, Europe and North America. Of special interest to the more mature visitors will be a Hornby “O” gauge layout from the 1950’s and for the very young, a selfdrive Thomas and Friends layout from Shildon Model Railway Club.

Traders will be well represented with 10 stands selling new and pre-owned model railway items along with die-cast models, scenery, photographs and books. Four full size preservation societies will be lending their support while other enthusiasts will be manning a tombola staff and serving refreshments. Free parking is available at St Mary’s RC Church just yards from the event, there is full disabled access, all day refreshments are available and a family tombola. Proceeds   from the exhibition will be shared between the Heel and Toe charity, which supports children with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities, and the Brain Tumour Research Campaign.
