Running enthusiast Steve Wood is leaving the trainers at home and taking part in the world’s greatest half marathon barefoot!
Steve, 46 from Newton Aycliffe, will join thousands others on the start line for the 2014 Great North Run on 7th September. Steve completed the same feat last year in aid of Cancer Research, but has decided to support a local charity for this year’s event.
Steve Robson, Event Fundraiser for Butterwick Hospice said “this is an unbelievable challenge that Steve is taking on and we are so proud that he is running for Butterwick Hospice Care. He is no doubt hoping the weather is a bit kinder this year and aims to beat a previous half marathon best of 1.48. I’m sure he will make full use of our complementary massages at the finish line.”
Although ballots for this year’s run have now closed, Butterwick Hospice still has guaranteed places available. To book your place and help support your local Hospice, log on to www.butterwick.org.uk/gnr2014 or ring 01642 628 930.
