Those eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed a new addition outside St. Clare’s Church, Newton Aycliffe. We are proud to give ‘Tommy’ a home – the metal sculpture set in a sea of poppies is part of our towns mark of respect during the year which sees 100 years since the war ended in 1918.

The poppies have grown well on one side of the path , but the other plot where poppy seeds were laid remains bare. SO …… come along to St. Clare’s on Tuesday 31st July and help us make, paint, create poppies to place in this area. We are open from 10 am – 12noon so just pop in. Tea, coffee, juice and a biscuit will be available. This event is open to all and it would be especially lovely to see members from SHINE CHOIR, Messy Church, Brownies, Guides and Infinity Dance Company come along.
