On Bank Holiday at 2pm, 6th May 2018, Cllr Ken Robson Vice Chairman of GARA and myself began gathering the Petition against Livin’s Regeneration Scheme.

We started at Silverdale Place, and despite the glorious weather managed to catch 41 residents in and on Monday night we visited Langdale

Rest assured, we will revisit those not in because we want to gather everyone’s signature. The only nights not out gathering signatures are Wednesdays. Next area is Eskdale, then Whinlatter, Kirkstone and Honister thereafter revisit those not at home.

Statistics of signatures

Silverdale Signatures: 39 of which: 19 Tenants, 15 Home Owners and 5 Private Tenants

Langdale Signatures: 38 of which: 23 Tenants, 14 Home Owners and 1 Private Tenant.

In Langdale we met only 1 owner and 2 Tenants in favour of Livin’s Option 3.

Resident Joanne Sweeney, currently working in China, has contacted GARA to add her name to the petition thanking GARA for all their hard work on this campaign.

It is heartening to note that nearly every tenant is opposed to Livin’s Option 3 and will not be turned, and used against Home Owners in a vote. The whole community is rock solid united against demolition of the estate.
