Raindrops to Rainbows was formed in 2014 by Stephanie Addison, to offer Perinatal Mental Health Peer Support to mums. Stephanie experienced Postnatal Depression in 2007, following the birth of her daughter and realised she could turn her negative experience into a positive by helping others in a similar position. Our Peer Support Groups offer mums a safe and comfortable environment without judgement, where they are able to chat amongst other mums who are having a similar experience.

Since it began, Raindrops to Rainbow has gone from strength to strength, supporting many families across the North East, winning the 2017 Health Impact Award at Catalyst Achievement Awards and taking part in a maternal mental health event at the House of Commons.

Stephanie is also a member of the Perinatal Mental Health Partnership which is a collection of individuals, professionals and groups from across the UK working together to raise awareness of Perinatal Mental Health, and founders of the UK’s Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week.

“Perinatal Mental Health is something that needs to be more widely recognised, and its absolutely phenomenal to see how many organisations joined our Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week using our hashtag #maternalmhmatters. And whilst there is more and more support becoming available for mums, there is still a huge gap in support for dads, and this is something we would like to change” Stephanie Addison, Raindrops to Rainbows.

Stephanie, as the founder of Raindrops to Rainbows works alongside numerous organisations across the region, to promote Perinatal Mental Health Services and Support, including Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind, Cleveland Police and their Blue Light Programme as well as being part of a larger Peer Support Network, Teesside By Side.

Raindrops to Rainbows is currently looking for volunteers to join their Peer Support Programme, this includes both mums and dads, who have personal lived experience or supported a partner through a Perinatal Mental Illness. Alternatively, there are other numerous ways for parents to get involved, please email support@raindropstorainbows.co.uk for more information.
