Great results from the first gala of 2019, as 15 swimmers took to the pool at Billingham last weekend at the New Year Meet.
Sedgefield 75 swimmers competed in a total of 72 swims, bringing home 24 medals and 28 personal best times.
Competing were: Aaron Stephenson, Charlie McEwan, Charlotte Lee, Emma Price, Ethan Craig, Ewan John, Jake Andrews, Katelyn Craig, Kathryn Lee, Leah Smith, Lucas Daley, Mateusz Wilczynski, Matthew Wimbury, Robert Price and Thomas Curran.
Emma Price took gold in the 200 free, silver in the 50 breast, 50 free, 100 breast, 200 breast and bronze in the 50 back and 100 back.
Katelyn Craig took silver in the 100 fly, 50 back, 200 free and 100 fly over 15 final.
Kathryn Lee took silver in the 100 back.
Leah Smith took gold in the 200 IM, 100 free and 100 free under 14 final, silver in the 50 free, 50 breast and 50 breast under 14 final and bronze in the 50 fly.
Mateusz Wilczynski took silver in the 50 fly and 100 fly.
Matthew Wimbury took bronze in the 50 breast and 100 breast.
Thomas Curran took silver in the 100 free.
Following Niall Coulthard’s outstanding results at the British Championships in 2018, he has been selected to represent the North East Region for the individual 200 free and relay event at the English School’s Swimming Association, to be held in London in March.
