My beloved Mam left us last May after battling a second time with cancer. It came upon her so unexpectedly and completely ravaged her whole body very quickly. My family and I spent her last week together at home, those moments were some of the hardest and yet the most beautiful I have experienced.  My Mam’s wish was to be taken care of by her family. Due to her complete lack of mobility and functions coupled with outrageous pain, this meant a challenge that none of us were prepared for . . . nor did we know if our decisions were always the right ones. Macmillan Cancer supported me through reassurance, hugs and smiles. They even agreed with me that I would provide protein shakes to build my Mam up!

Their lovely gestures were a breath of fresh air and the only contact we had to the outside world, whilst we remained in our cocoon. I decided to run the marathon as it helps me keep her memory close to me. It reminds me of her determination never to give up and pushes me to achieve. Most of all I wish to make her proud. I am running the London Marathon for Team Macmillan; good people that were always there in the background ready to do whatever was needed in the most difficult time in our lives and that of many others.  I ask for your support by sponsoring me.
