Dear Sir,

As Secretary of Great Aycliffe Residents’ Association (GARA) I obtained a copy of Livin’s bid and exposed their true intentions from 2014 – The TRUTH IS OUT!

Livin states in it’s 2 page article last week in Newton News that “At Livin and as far back as 2014 – Western was on our radar”

Firstly it’s not “Western” and Livin don’t get to name our Estate. It is the ‘Williamfield’ area, or as some call it, the Dandy Cart.

Secondly, Livin totally misled everyone (except perhaps our County Councillors). When GARA obtained the original bid by Livin put in to the Government on 16th January, 2017 it stated “in 2014 Livin, Private Sector Partners and DCC considered wholescale demolition and rebuild across the estate, however this was not viable with a gap of £15 million.”

Livin never told tenants about this until 2018 – GARA exposed it when we got a copy of their original bid.

Livin have been busy visiting Tenants and Owners who are now signing GARA’s petition against Option 3 in droves.

After the visits, Livin need to answer the following questions:

1. Who were the Private Sector Partners in 2014?

2. Why Private Sector Partners?

3. Who at County Council have they agreed with in 2014 for demolition and rebuild? Our County Councillors have been deafeningly silent!

4. Livin misled their Volunteers and Champions and Residents pretending there were 3 Options when 4 years earlier, secretly, behind the scenes with Durham County Council they had only one Option.

5. Why was Garburn Place not included in the Scheme?

Livin should continue to visit residents, their lack of answers, refusal to put things in writing, is helping the petition against their scheme. SIGN THE GARA PETITION – it has the support of the majority of residents.
