Stressed Pensioner Calls MP

An incident occurred last week where a lack of consideration for vulnerable people was allegedly demonstrated by livin.
A 78 year old lady living in a bungalow in Sharp Road reported her toilet pan was overflowing when flushed. This was on a Thursday and she was told nothing could be done until the following Tuesday as it was not considered to be a priority. She was told to turn the water off and wait!
Meanwhile the water had also flowed into her next door neighbour’s house and was causing quite a bit of stress to both pensioners.
The lady contacted Newton News and our MP Phil Wilson who moved quickly by contacting livin. A plumber was sent out immediately to solve the problem.
The elderly lady and her neighbour are grateful for our MP’s intervention and wish to thank him.
However livin’s version of events differs and their Contracts Manager told Newton News:
“The repair was reported at approximately 8am Thursday 20th August ‘Water constantly running in cistern’. The repair was issued after arranging an appointment with the tenant. Following a further call from the tenant the appointment was brought forward and attended to on 20th Augustin line with livins’ procedures.”
