Newton Aycliffe Karate Club
took part in the Isle of Man Karate Federation Annual competition on Easter Saturday at Peterlee Leisure Centre.
Kyle Smythe, 7th Kyu Orange Belt, 15 years came 3rd in Up to 4th Kyu Men’s Kumite (Free Fighting). He did really well against adults twice his age.
Jonathan Timmis, 7th Kyu Orange Belt, 15 years, came 3rd in the Team Kumite event. Sensei Stephen Wilkinson, 4th Dan Black Belt came First in Brown and Black Belt Kata (Forms) and 2nd in team Kumite. Sensei Andy Bailey, 3rd Dan Black Belt, came 2nd in Brown and Black Belt Kata.
Congratulations to Sensei Stephen Wilkinson for passing his Yondan, 4th Dan Black Belt after taking his grading under Sensei Frank Newton, 6th Dan and head of the Federation.
For those interested in training in Karate we are at Neville Parade Community Centre training Tuesdays 7pm to 8.30pm and Sundays 10am to 11.30am. Adults £2.50 a session and kids £2. First lesson is free.
