It’s been a week of jubilation for the staff, residents and friends of Rose Lodge Care Home, Carers Way, after the home walked away with the highly coveted ‘Home of the Year’ title in the 2017 Maria Mallaband and Countrywide care awards. Management and staff from the home were cheered on by colleagues as their award win was announced at the awards gala evening in Leeds. The awards, now in the 3rd year, recognise exceptional practice from staff who are committed to improving the lives of people living in residential care.

The prestigious ‘Home of the Year’ title is awarded to a care home which provides outstanding care for residents and relatives, whilst demonstrating great team work, always going above and beyond the call of duty. Judges were impressed with Rose Lodge’s dedication to providing the highest quality care to its residents, innovative activities as well as its community engagement programme. They received nominations from staff, residents, families and healthcare professionals alike. Rose Lodge; a residential care home for the elderly, and people living with dementia, is acknowledged as one of the most sought after care facilities in the area, with an impressive CQC inspection report, and scored 9.6 out of 10 on the independent leading industry review site carehome.co.uk. It has events such as their popular ‘come dine with me’ luncheons which are booked up as soon as tickets become available.

It was double celebrations as Rose Lodge Housekeeper Margaret Magneron also walked way with the ‘Housekeeping Highflyer’ award for her outstanding service. Also named as national finalists from Rose Lodge was Head Chef David Nevison for the ‘Masterchef’ award and Deputy Manager Leeann Burnside for the ‘End of Life Care’ Award. Nicola Wheatley; Manager at Rose Lodge, said: “We couldn’t be happier with our success. It means so much to us, and it really has been a great effort, feeling wonderful to receive an award which recognises the whole team.” The home is extending an open invitation for friends old and new to join them in a celebratory party in honour of their success. The party is set to take place in July, and will feature live entertainment from ever popular Elvis impersonator Mike Memphis as well as a host of party games and prize raffle.
