On Wednesday, 24th September, Heighington Homemakers Group celebrated the fiftieth anniversary since its foundation in 1964, with afternoon tea and cakes in the village hall.
In attendance were Darlington Mayor and  Mayoress, Gerald Lee and his wife Ruth, together with over 40 current members of the Group.
As well as the fifty years celebration, thirty years as serving officers by two special members was also recognised.  Bouquets were presented to Mrs. Betty Hepple and Mrs Joan Stubbs who have been members for most of its fifty year history and lots of happy memories were shared.
Heighington Homemakers meets on alternate Thursday evenings, in the village hall, usually with a guest speaker, covering a wide variety of subjects and interests.
New members are most welcome.
