Two of Greenfield Community College’s Sports teams had success recently as they competed for a place in County Finals.
Four boccia teams travelled to Spennymoor Leisure Centre to take part in the Sedgefield Boccia championships. The teams were entered in the under 15 and  under 13 events and were delighted that two of the four teams qualified for the County  finals which will take place in July.
In athletics Greenfield students joined nine other schools from South West Durham for the South West Durham Schools Athletics Championships recently. The standards demonstrated by our local  athletes was very impressive, with a number of County and National standards achieved during the evening.
Greenfield were delighted with the success of our athletes. Four qualified to represent South West Durham in the County finals in June, with all achieving personal best times and lengths!  Jasmine Falconer qualified in the High Jump after jumping a personal best of 1.34m. Adam Lamb took first in the Triple Jump, after jumping his personal best of 10.59m, then took second place in the 100m final with another personal best of 11.81sec. Christina Shodunke finished in first  place in the Long Jump, after jumping her personal best of 4.55m and went on to achieved another personal best of 13.93 in the 100m final. Courtnie Mills who has returned to training after a long term injury took first place in the 200m final with an excellent time of 26.99, well ahead of second place.
Other Greenfield athletes who narrowly missed out on a place in the County final include Jessica Catleugh, Ethan Baptist, Emily Farlow and Molly Waine who came in 3rd place and well done to Charlotte Hugill who gained her personal best gaining a silver athletics award in the Long Jump.
