Students at Greenfield Community College put on their biggest show to date, wowing audiences of over 800 people. ‘We Will Rock You, a musical by Queen and Ben Elton, tells the story of a time in the future; on a place that was once called ‘Earth’- globalisation is complete.

Musical instruments and live music are banned, and it is up to ‘Galileo and Scaramouche’ to fight back against ‘Killer Queen’ to find what has been lost. Hit songs such as ‘Radio Gaga’, ‘Don’t stop me now’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and of  course ‘We Will Rock You’ were performed in front of sell out audiences.

Friends and families of the school as well as the public were captivated by high tech sets, lighting and sound. One audience member commented ‘It was amazing, I can’t believe it was a school production!’

Ali Dixon, subject leader for Performing Arts, said ‘It was a huge challenge, it’s always tricky putting on a production which has such a reputation- We Will Rock You ran for 12 years in the West End and has toured around the world!

Queen’s music is notoriously difficult to sing and play but the cast and crew pulled it off superbly. Everyone worked tremendously hard, I am so proud of all involved. It really was a whole school, team effort.’
