Dear Sir,
Could I through your newspaper, once again thank the generous people who shop in Tesco’s Supermarket for their donations to support the work of the Foodbank in Newton Aycliffe.
We spent three days there asking shoppers to donate a tin from their shopping to aid the charity and I also thank the volunteers who gave up their time to stand and hand out flyers to customers as they entered the store.
Special mention for Tesco staff, where nothing was too much trouble and they were a fantastic help. I don’t know how they keep smiling when their feet must be aching, just like mine were after a long day.
May I also mention the staff who work in Tesco’s filling station who really worked hard to encourage customers to give generously.
Please remember that for whatever reason you find yourself in food poverty please go to one of the care agencies and get a voucher, and don’t be embarrassed about coming into the Foodbank at St Clare’s Church as we really want to help.
Many thanks to you all.
Ernie & June Temple.
Foodbank co-ordinators.
