Swimmers from Sedgefield District 75 Swimming Club finished 2016 with a collection of PBs and Medals at the last gala of 2016 in Middlesbrough in December.  7 swimmers competed in the 20 races and achieved a total of 2 silvers and 1 gold medal along with 11 PBs.  At the National Championships in Sheffield later in December Hannah Featherstone achieved gold in the 200 IM a fabulous achievement as this was the race that had been targeted in training, she also swam 3 other great races achieving a 2 second PB in the 200 Back.

Last weekend 14th/15th January 2017 saw the first gala of 2017 for the club’s swimmers.  Newcastle Swim Team’s gala at the new South Shields pool was the perfect setting for a weekend of PBs. The beautiful new facility along with the great organisation set the team up for PBs in every race and a gold and 2 silver medals.   Kathryn Lee, Pippa Sanderson, Kate Carmichael, Kate Tolley, Sophie Wilkinson, Leah Smith and Katelyn Craig swam a total of 29 races between them and each one set a personal best for each of their races.

These results are a fantastic achievement after the club has had a difficult time following the closure of Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.  It is great to see such an improvement and also to see new swimmers coming into the club and progressing following dedication in their training.
