Butterwick Hospice were delighted when former Councillor Vince Crosby and his wife Joan contacted them to tell them that for their 50th Wedding Anniversary they requested not to receive presents or gifts but asked family and friends to donate to Butterwick Hospice. The couple are celebrating their Golden Wedding on October 8th at the Park Head Hotel. Vince and Joan met at a dance at Spennymoor Town Hall, he was a dental technician at the time with the Army and Joan was working at West Auckland clothing factory. They were married at St. Charle’s Church in Spennymoor in 1966 and went on to have two sons Kevin and Michael, and now have 3 grandchildren. The money raised  from the couples generosity will assist with the expansion and continuing  improvement of the Butterwick services in response to the needs of people in the local community. The Hospice requires £2,800 each and every day of the year to cover essential costs. There is no charge to any of the patients for any of its services, therefore we rely heavily upon our volunteers and community supporters to help us generate the money that we need to offer our unique brand of individual care.
