Families looking to keep their children entertained this spring should look no further than the Gala Theatre.

The Durham city venue is hosting a number of shows especially for young people over the next few months, starting with the charming tale of Bear and Butterfly – two creatures who become the best of friends.

The show, presented by Theatre Hullabaloo, includes puppetry, live music and spellbinding storytelling and will be at Gala for two performances on Wednesday, 24th January for children aged between four and seven.

February sees brand new show Monstersaurus! come to Gala, following Monty as he creates a world of wacky inventions and incredible monsters.

Created by the team behind the popular Aliens Love Underpants, the show is suitable for those aged three and above and takes place on Sunday, 4th February at 11.30am and 2pm.

On Tuesday, 27th March, Kitchen Zoo presents children’s tale The Owl and the Pussycat, which uses puppetry and live music to bring Edward Lear’s classic rhyme to life.

The following month, the company brings its latest production The Tin Foil Astronaut to the theatre, which promises to be excellent entertainment during the Easter holidays.

The show, ideal for three to seven year olds, follows Alba as she tries to make it all the way to the moon.

Performances will take place at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm on Sunday, 15th April and is perfect for all those who dream about going up into space.
