If you are wanting to set yourself a fitness challenge or are interested in starting a new hobby whilst meeting new people, the Wellbeing for Life service are delivering some exciting new courses to suit you in Newton Aycliffe. Couch to 5K Park Run is a structured programme led by qualified run leaders. The course started Tuesday 17 January 5.15-6.15pm at the Leisure Centre, but it’s not too late to join, there’s still another 9 weeks to go to meet the end goal of completing a 5k park run.  Booking is essential, please call 03000 262754 or email Lee.Bloomfield@durham.gov.uk to confirm your place. Men’s News and Brews is the name of a new social group Wellbeing for Life are delivering at Woodham Community Centre on Thursdays between 9.30am and 11.00am.  The group is for local males to meet and discuss news, views or simply catch up over a cuppa with friends.

The group is free and attendees will have access to free newspapers, tea/coffee or juice, men’s health information/ activities and volunteering opportunities. People can just turn up or if you would like further information contact Simon on 07584703814. A new Craft Group is also starting on Tuesday 31 January, 2pm at the new library in the Leisure Centre. Guidance and materials are provided for people to learn new skills. Or people can take along any crafts they would like to work on in a social setting. The class aims to promote fun, friendship and feeling good! People can just turn up or if you would like further information contact Liz on 07584703815 The Wellbeing for Life service supports people to live well, by helping to address the factors which influence their health. The service will build capacity to enable people to be independent, resilient and maintain good health for themselves and those around them. There will also be the opportunity to get extra support on a 1-1 basis from the Wellbeing for Life Health Trainers. Health Trainers can support you and your community to improve your wellbeing, signposting you to other local services where necessary.
