Students from Woodham Academy tested all their senses during an “absolutely amazing” outdoor adventure.
The trip to Marrick Priory, an outdoor education centre in North Yorkshire, saw students undergo a series of tests of resilience, problem solving and physical skills.
Former Woodham Academy student Paul Shoulder, from Sillar’s Property, paid for 24 current students to enjoy the experience after seeing the benefits of taking colleagues to Marrick Priory.
Pam Hall, Director of Student Support at Woodham Academy said: “We are so grateful to Paul for providing our young people with such a fabulous opportunity and the fact that he is an ex-student of ours makes us especially proud. We hope that we can continue to develop these relationships to enhance the experiences that students have at school, providing them with opportunities to develop their skills and character, supporting them to recognise their abilities as leaders and of course allowing them to shine both in and outside of the classroom.
“Woodham Academy offers an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities centred around music, dance and a variety of sports and this, coupled with an excellent set of exam results this year, placing the school within the top five percent of similar schools nationally, gives the students an excellent all round educational experience.”
Head of Learning Vikki Fawcett added: “The students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and relished the challenges that they were given. One student described the day as “absolutely amazing” and said that they had never had the opportunity to do anything like that before.”
