More than 35 employers and training providers are expected at a job fair to be held on 9 September at Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre, Burn Lane, Newton Aycliffe from 9.00am until 2.00pm

The jobs fair is aimed at helping local people find work or apprenticeships and gain careers advice and skills which can ultimately help them into employment.

The event has been organised by homes and communities business livin alongside the job centre and DISC (Developing Initiatives, Supporting Communities). livin launched the ‘livin futures’ programme in 2010, an employability programme aimed at supporting people of all ages and abilities into employment.

Alan Boddy, executive director of housing and business development said “the livin futures programme provides career advice, work experience, mentoring and training designed to  give people the best chance of getting a job.  Working closely with our partners we can do just that”.

Confirmed employers include MTREC, EE, Hyten, HM Forces, ILM Security, and McDonalds.
