John and Joyce Ledger of Westwood Avenue, Heighington celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary this week and received a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Darlington, Gerald and Ruth Lee.
The couple first met at a dance in Sunderland and married three years later. They have two children Melanie and Alison and one grandchild. They are members of St. Clare’s Church and lived in Newton Aycliffe before moving to Heighington. John is an Honorary Life Member of the Rotary Club and Joyce is in Inner Wheel.
Joyce said: “We have enjoyed our 60 years of married life and are amazed at just where the time has gone! The icing on the cake for our celebration was the visit from the Mayor and Mayoress with a large bunch of flowers.”
