Sheet Anchor Investments Limited have applied to Durham County Council to redevelop the land on which “The Cubby” stood until its demolition. The Town Centre site will provide 490 sq m of commercial floor space within four buildings for retail use with associated access, car parking, and landscaping. The plan shows Costa Coffee (part of the Whitbread Group) taking a large prime unit next to Central Avenue which will definitely affect other catering establishments in the town. Tenants of the other three units are to be confirmed.
