Cornmill Shopping Centre is working in partnership with Healthy Darlington to promote a healthy start to the new year following the indulgent Christmas festivities.

Throughout January (Friday 19th and Saturday 27th), Healthy Darlington will be supporting residents and local shoppers by getting them to ‘eat well, move more and live longer’, through improving the availability, accessibility and quality of sport and physical activity across the borough.

As part of Healthy Darlington’s campaign, Cornmill Shopping Centre will be hosting a pop-up event to support Healthy Darlington’s campaign from 11am to 2pm each day, providing information and visuals on services available to customers at the Dolphin Centre and Eastbourne Sports Complex. Additionally, details on Healthy Darlington’s partner and the Department of Health’s public health programme Change 4 Life will be available, with regards to information on their 7-day challenge which targets snacking in families.

The event will encourage shoppers to adopt a healthy lifestyle by offering the chance to win trial passes for a selection of fitness classes and entry to the gym.

Alongside the free competition give-aways, on 27th January Healthy Darlington will be bringing along their Tanita scales to the centre. The scales, which will provide customers with sophisticated body composition measurements, use advanced Bioelectric Impedance Analysis technology to produce an accurate reading in under 20 seconds.

Susan Young, centre manager at the Cornmill Centre, said: “Our centre will be supporting Healthy Darlington’s movement to get the town fit on the 11th, 19th and 27th January. We believe that promoting a healthy lifestyle and showcasing local health services that are accessible to all will really benefit the residents of Darlington. We can’t wait to start our health kick this year and wish everyone a happy and healthy 2018.”
