John Moore, Chief Coach for Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club was awarded Coach of the Year at a ceremony held at Shildon Civic Centre. John has won this three times before but this did not diminish the pride and pleasure felt when presented with the trophy by DCC Councillor Maria Plews.
John goes forward to the County Final held at Ramside Hotel in October.
Although his name is on all these trophies John makes the point they are the outcome of hard work put in by a team of dedicated volunteers and coaches not fogetting the success of the swimmers at local, national and international level.
The staff at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre have always played a major part in the success of the club along with the continued support of Cllrs. Joan Gray, John Clare and Mike Dixon.
Nick Ruddick former national coach to the GB Junior Womens Gymnastic Team gave an inspirational talk. The talent and potential of the athletes from a huge variety of sports at the ceremony was absolutely breathtaking.
One of the most exciting developments within the county is the creation of Durham County Institute of Sport. Sedgefield 75 have two swimmers who are currently going through the selection process. Sincere thanks to Livin who supported the event.
