The Parish of Great Aycliffe Pastoral team have had a very enjoyable time these past two weeks. We have visited all of our care and nursing homes around the town for their Harvest services. All of the homes have tried really hard to make up Scarecrows, and they were given free reign in designing them. As you readers can see they all are extremely good and we would like to call on our Newton News readers to help us decide which is the best one.

When you decide please telephone Pam Lovelass on 01325 316841 or email pamlovelass@gmail.com – It would be great if you could please vote for your favourite.

Thank you. Also we would like to thank all homes for taking part and for there contributions to the local Food Bank. Thanks again.

Woodham Grange Home. Names are Worzel with the guitar and Simon.

A fantastic Service at Woodham Grange home recently. The staff held a competition between themselves for the best scarecrow. After a lot of deliberations we decided that Rocky Worzel won by just a short straw! Sorry about the pun. Simon Scarecrow will try again next year.

Thanks to all for your hard work xx

Rose Lodge care home scarecrows with harvest festival food hamper

Photos are of the scarecrows at Rose Lodge Care Home.

The scarecrows were made by residents and staff at the home. The pink one is called ‘Pinky’ and the blue one is called ‘Perky’. Along with the scarecrows we also hosted a Harvest Festival Food Bank which we donated to St Clares.
