There will be no changes to bin collections in County Durham over the two May Bank Holidays. Residents are advised to put their refuse and recycling bins out for collection by 7am on their normal collection day during the weeks beginning Monday, 7 and Monday, 28 May.

Residents who have signed up for garden waste collections should also put their bins out as normal.

Anyone who is unsure of their collection day can find out by entering their house number and postcode into the ‘My Durham’ section on Durham County Council’s website at www.durham.gov.uk.

Residents are also reminded that the council’s Customer Access Points and customer surgeries will be closed during the Bank Holidays.

Offices will close at 4.30pm on Friday, 4 May and reopen at 8.30am on Tuesday, 8 May. Similarly, they will close at 4.30pm on Friday, 25 May and reopen at 8.30am on Tuesday, 29 May.

In the event of an emergency, residents can still contact the council on 03000 260 000 or use the 24/7 automated payments line on 0300 456 2771.

Online services will still be accessible over the Bank Holidays but requests will not be processed until council offices reopen
