Point-to-point followers from across County Durham will descend to Sedgefield Racecourse this weekend for the South Durham Point to Point meeting.

The event, chaired by John Wade, begins at 3:00pm and will consist of seven races, including the qualifying race for the Restricted Series Final, sponsored by Subaru, which is set to take place at Stratford Racecourse on Friday 9 June. After racing, an after party will be available within the Collins Suite for all to enjoy which includes live entertainment.

With over 70 entries the day is expected to attract some of the top Northern and Yorkshire amateur horses and Jockey’s, including current leading rider John Dawson who has ridden 26 wins this year and hopes to make further success at Sedgefield.

Anna Dawson, one of the event organisers said, “We’re really looking forward to the last meeting of the Yorkshire Point to Point season at Sedgefield Racecourse. The racing should be really competitive as many of the Jockey’s compete for the area titles. By having live music and a party after racing, we hope to attract a good crowd and make the event a great social one to attend over the Bank Holiday weekend.”

Jill Williamson, Executive Director at Sedgefield Racecourse said, “We’re delighted to have been chosen as the new venue for the annual event this year and to be able to support amateur racing within the region. The day offers something for everyone including racing, plenty of food outlets, after racing entertainment and therefore a real treat to the community”.

Tickets are available for just £10 and can be purchased online at www.sedgefield-racecourse.co.uk
