Newton Aycliffe F.C. continued their preparations for the new season with a trip to Liversedge of the North East Counties League last Saturday. The trip was an enjoyable day out for players, committee members and supporters alike to a fine ground in a beautiful setting. The result was the icing on the cake with a 3-1 win. Aaron Brown opened the scoring in the second minute and Jack Oliver got the second ten minutes later. Stuart Banks added a third late in the game, direct from a free kick. Aycliffe have one remaining preseason fixture when Hemsworth Miners Welfare visit Moore Lane on Saturday 29 July. Kick off will be at the earlier than usual time of 2pm.

Hemsworth also play in the North East Counties League, which is at the same level in the FA’s National League System as our own Ebac Northern League. Admission for the friendly will be £2 adults, £1 concessions. The season proper starts on Saturday 5 August with the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round. Chester-le-Street will be the visitors to Moore Lane where kick off will be 3.00pm. Admission is £6 adults and £4 concessions. The winners of this tie will play away to either Albion Sports or Nelson in the Preliminary Round on 19 August.
