The service and dedication of Ernie and June Temple in setting up and organising the County Durham Foodbank Distribution Point in Newton Aycliffe were recognised at a fundraising event. Peter McLellan of the Durham Christian Partnership presented a brass plaque which will be displayed within foodbank, a reminder of their 5 years of service to those in crisis locally. Volunteers and supporters enjoyed Tea and Cakes for the Trussell Trust, as they thanked and congratulated the couple. SHINE church and community choir sang for Ernie and June, who also received flowers and a gift to mark the occasion, from Naomi, who worked as the Volunteer Coordinator with the DCP and County Foodbank project. Members of the churches, Foodbank volunteers and members of GACAP joined the Tea Party held to honour Ernie and June. Ernie thanked everyone on behalf of himself and June, and he spoke of some of the reasons he felt called to this service, as he thanked Peter whose vision started the Foodbank.
