Flight Sergeant Thomas Lowe of 1407 (Newton Aycliffe) Squadron Air Cadets recently completed the seventh annual Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC) along with 39 other cadets from around the UK.
Based at two centres, RAF Linton-On-Ouse and MOD Boscombe Down, this course involved six weekends of training in aerospace subjects ranging from air traffic control and aerodynamics to instructional technique and pilot studies.
After these weekends, FS Lowe attended a week long graduation which involved exams followed by 40 minute presentations from the cadets and a graduation dinner. Tom received an award for attaining the highest score during the air traffic control simulations on the Linton course. On gaining these valuable skills, FS Lowe can teach aerospace subjects on the squadron or at Regional Activities Centres. In addition to this, he can also help out at future QAIC courses.
