Residents group ACORN will hold their October meeting in the British Legion Club on Monday 20th October at 6pm. Discussion on future events such as the annual Halloween Party Spooktacular on 31st October in the Leisure Centre. Tickets are available from there at £2 – entertainment and disco provided by Prof Nincompoop and nibbles on tables. Under 16s need to be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
The ACORN Blackpool and Keswick trip is fully booked and we are looking forward to seeing the illuminations. With the festive season fast approaching plans are progressing for the great ACORN Pantomime trip to Durham Gala theatre in January.
It has been a hectic year for the residents group happily culminating with the return of the Newton Aycliffe firework display and I would like to thank all involved with the Save our Fireworks Display campaign which allowed us to explore facebook as a tool for mass marketing and campaigning. Special thanks to Mrs Eleanor West for tutoring and setting up the page and everyone involved for your support.
ACORN is an open inclusive organisation, family friendly and seeks to provide events which brings our wonderful community together. We welcome everyone to come along and get involved and would like anyone with specialist skills such as administration and fundraising to come forward and offer help.
We look forward to seeing you at our meetings. Don’t forget we have a thriving Little ACORNS group who meet just before the main meeting at 5.30pm to discuss issues related to them including planning future events.
