13 year old Newtonian Mia Cooper has recently started Kart Racing to MSA level and was at Hooton Park Race Circuit last weekend for her 3rd novice race as the only girl.
She finished second overall and was 1st Novice, an amazing achievement this early in her racing career.
Mia attends Woodham Academy and is currently in year 8. She lives in Woodham after the family moved there from Heighington.
Her Mother, Keely works for a Newton Aycliffe company, ARC Accident Repair Centre who sponsor Mia who became interested in Kart Racing two years ago after watching a race.
The Motor Sports Association have strict guidelines and you need to a licence to race in their meetings which are held all over the country, hosting all the top drivers.
Mia raced at Wigan 3 Sisters track and came 3rd there last month and was 1st novice.
She is hoping to race at Rowrah in Cumbria next and 6 signatures are required from three different tracks to get off novice status. She is one of very few girls who race in this sport as it is generally male orientated.
“Anyone wanting to sponsor her would be great – please ring me on 07921 612166.” said Keely.
